I was planning on posting about this movie, and the great quotes from it, but Katie beat me to it.
Go
here. Read.
Savor the poetic symbolism of the Dark Knight.
**spoiler alert!**
My
absolute favorite moment of the movie is when one of the convicts gets up and takes the detonator and says, "Give it to me. You can tell them I took it by force. Give it to me, and I'll do, what you shoulda did, ten minutes ago." And then he throws it out the window...
I think this movie is so powerful and has so many beautiful themes. It portrays evil so well without glorifying it; it portrays it
as evil, and I think that is really important.
(not to mention the
excellent musical score from it)

it's so interesting you and katie like it so much...we totally hated it....but we only saw it once. maybe we should watch it again and find these themes and such :) great post.
I had an intersting experience when I was over at Emily Anderson's place once. We were watching a movie with Lindsey Hall call Brigham City. Lindsey LOVES the movie. to be 100% honest, Emily and I hated it. I suppose a large part of our loathing came from the fact of our watching it on Sunday but that's another story.
My point is this: who knows the reasons why people like or dislike things. I'm always amazed to see such varied opinions so strongly upheld on both sides. Not that I'm saying anyone is right or wrong in liking/disliking The Dark Knight.
Yeah it's interesting. I've heard about that movie, Brigham City, but haven't seen it. I'm surprised Lindsey liked it so much, though. To each his own.
hahahaha laura, we were meant to be friends. :) seriously though, isn't this movie great? i just adore it, for many reasons...
